A contemporary library should be an active public space that facilitates the passing on of knowledge, culture, and history of its place. The library’s eroded form opens it up to the city, drawing in daylight, fresh air, and most importantly, the people of Varna. Its architecture blurs the line between inside and outside, card holders and non-cardholders, academic and public life. Clad in books and anchored with the celebrated book tower, this new library takes a collection that has long been dispersed and puts it, along with its users, on display. It is aplace to gather, be entertained, socialize, learn, recreate, and rejuvenate.
