Our main goal was to create space in the heart of the city that would accommodate social life, reading and learning and at the same time would unite, connect the city space in an exciting, intriguing way. We have adopted a holistic approach to the design of the architectural form that takes into consideration the surrounding building environment and initiates a dialogue with it. The form and position of the library adhere to the existing municipality building thus creating a non-interrupted city silhouette. The atrium of the library corresponds to the empty space between the buildings behind leaving the impression of transparency (flowing of space). The glass façade provides quality daylight while the sunshades protect the building from excessive sunshine and at the same correspond to the vertical pattern of the municipality building. The green roof and the photovoltaic plant contribute to the energy efficiency of the building and to maintaining the optimal microclimate conditions.
